Physics master minds!!!!

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for 2010 to Andre Geim and Konstantin Novoselov, both of the University of Manchester, "for groundbreaking experiments regarding the two-dimensional material graphene."
So just a carbon as thick as an atom gave him his nobel prize!Geim and Novoselov have shown that carbon (in such a flat form) has exceptional properties that originate from the remarkable world of quantum physics.Graphene is a sort of carbon.iIt is the thinnest and strongest material.Geim and Novoselov have shown that carbon in such a flat form has exceptional properties that originate from the remarkable world of quantum physics.it is also a conductor of heat it outperforms all other known materials. It is almost completely transparent, yet so dense that not even helium, the smallest gas atom, can pass through it.
Carbon has yet again surprised us!!!So I put a few pictures of how it looks and if you want more info go to "Science Daily"

  1. That sounds really interesting. I never knew that Graphene was a kind of carbon. It is neat that carbon in a flat form has properties that come from quantum physics.
