How valuable is a rock?
A rocks value is determined by the properties and rareness for example:
occurrence in earths crust
luster
hardness
The Area of Interaction of the unit was: Environments: To investigate the role and responsibilities of individuals and societies in the sustainable use and exploitation of natural resources taken from the Earth's crust.does it fit the unit?
Yes it does because, it has to do with minerals and what societies use it for, like if a mineral was hard to find like diamond (todays society) it would be used as jewelry or if something is hard they would use it as tools.
Q3
I think I understand because it shows how minerals are made and how they get there properties.
How do you feel you did during this unit? What could you have improved?
I think I did ok but I could of researched a bit more for the growing crystals because only at the end I found out that crystals grow better in puddles.
How do you feel about the activities you took part in?
I think the activities showed you how things have different ways to be better.
Did you learn any new skills or knowledge that you did not know before?
I learned how crystals form in different ways.
What did you find interesting?
I found interesting under how much force diamonds were made.
What was your favorite and/or least favorite part?
My least favorite was the planning and making of the garden and putting the solutions on but my favorite was getting the results at the end.
What would you add or change about this unit for next year's grade 6 students?
I would tell them to put a plastic container as the solution will not soak into it and I would tell them to make puddles.
